Treatment Approach

Dr. Husein's philosophy

80% of cases resolve with conservative care

Conservative Care First (Preferred)

  • Immobilization with a boot or cast
  • Custom orthotics and arch support
  • Physical therapy
  • Anti-inflammatory medications
  • Ankle bracing
  • Activity modification

Surgical Consideration (Last Resort)

Surgery is always the last resort.
Advanced PTTD that has caused structural deformity may require reconstructive surgery including tendon transfer, osteotomy, or joint fusion depending on the stage of the condition.
